1/11 - Hello!

Time to start blogging!

My student teaching has finally started (1/4) and this is where I will be blogging about my daily activities, experiences, and reflections. I am also planning on listing the class lesson plans and the accompaning resources used to compliment them.

My placement has located me at Daviess County Middle School, home of the Panthers, in Owensboro, Kentucky with Mrs. Misty Westerfield. She has done a great job of setting me up in her 6th grade Geography class. DCMS runs on block scheduling with Red and White days. You will see me note these days in my blogs. Each Day consist of four blocks and a CATS Prep (study hall).

Red Schedule:
Block 1 - Geo
Block 2 - Geo
Block 3 - Geo
Block 4 - Planning
2:45 - 3:15 - CATS Prep

White Schedule:
Block 1 - Geo
Block 2 - Geo
Block 3 - PACE (Economics)
Block 4 - Planning
2:45 - 3:15 - CATS Prep

The first (1/4 - 1/9) week included getting set up, meeting the students and faculty, and learning procedures and expectations . . . as weel as two snow days (Thursday 1/8 andd Friday 1/9). I did have the oppurtunity to begin working with students during Geography (map activities) and CATS Prep (study hall).

I look foward to keeping everyone updated on this great journey that awaits me!
