Daily Lesson Plan

Objectives

- Identify key vocabulary terms.
- Describe the primary reasons people emigrate from their country of birth and immigrate to the United States.
- Identify key ways in which migration impacts the United States, immigrants, and the countries left behind.

Procedures

1) Students will have the whole Block period to take their Chapter 8 Summative Assessment and their ORQ Assessment. These are two different grades. The Chapter 8 assessment includes 12 multiple choice (vocabulary terms, comprehension, recall, etc.), 3 short answers (map of migration streams). The ORQ assessment is based off of the essential question for Chapter 8.

Assessment

Chapter 8 Assessment – (Summative) This test is scored on a 0/100 points scale and then is multiplied times three for total possible 300 points.
ORQ Assessment - (Summative) This is also scored on a 0/100 point scale and then multiplied times three for a possible 300 points. Students are required to use the 4 column method (on their own paper) as a pre-writing technique before writing their final response on the attached paper. A Rubric is attached.
