1/13 (White)

White days consist of two Geo classes (Block 1 & 2) and one Pace-Economics class (Block 3). The day ends with CATS Prep (study hall).

Geo classes repeat the lesson from the previous day (Red).

Geo Class activities consisted of:

- Bellwork - 4 DOG questions.
- Grading Map Worksheets
- We finished up discussion on the 3 Immigration Waves.
- Compare/Contrast reasons for past and present immigration to the United States.
- Class reading (page 119 & 120)
- Geography Alive Interactive Student Notebook (ISN) - Page 66

PACE/Economics activities:
- AR Reading
- Started working on a FLIP CHART that covers Productive Resources.

Observation:
Mrs. Westerfield does an outstanding job with class room management. The students have a great deal of respect for her and as a result stay on task. I have also noticed that she is very consistent with her classroom management expectations. She also is very good at planned pauses after prompting the class to allow ALL students the opportunity to analyze/synthesize. Mrs. Westerfield also does an outstanding job of encouraging higher level thinking as she forces her students to be very specific when replying to prompts. She will not accept general questions and demands that the students give details.

Example: Why do people immigrate to the United States?

A reply of "To gain freedom" would be followed with "What type of freedom?"

I have also observed her using opportunities to correct a student to address the whole class. This is successful in re-stating goals and expectations for the class.
